Canvas Prints

These steps will show you how to create canvas prints. By using this method, you can have prints exactly as you want them.

Required Materials

Canvas sheets
Ink cartridges
Computer
Printer
Images

Step 1

Choose the photos you want to include in the print. If it isn’t on your computer, scan it. If you don’t have a canvas sheet, you can buy these at printer paper stores.

Step 2

Put the canvas sheet in your printer in the same location where the print paper is put in.

Step 3

Turn on your computer. Open the image in a photo editing application. Make any changes if you want. When you’re ready, click print. The printer options should come up. Adjust any preferences as you see fit.

Step 4

Still at the printer preferences dialog box, choose the print size. Sizes include wallets, 8 x 10, A4, full page etc. Choose the size you want. Click ok. The printer will start to print. Depending no the resolution, print size and quality, this may take a few seconds or a minute or so.

Step 5

Remove the canvas sheet from the printer. With some printer models you may have to wait a few minutes for the ink to dry. Now you have your own canvas print.

Adding Effects

A trip down the special effects menu of photo editing programs could produce some interesting results. Use painterly effects to make the picture look like a painting. You can also apply other effects like vignette, embossed and many others.

Online Print Services

If you need a print bigger than the printer, you can upload the image on some websites and get them to print it. Not only will they print the image, but they will also frame it. The cost of these services varies per site, so have a look around.

Varnishing and Printer Quality

A bottle of glossy spray varnish can make the print look more polished. However, you need to be careful when applying them. Follow the instructions on how to apply the varnish. The print cartridge has to be of good quality.

Don’t apply the varnish until the printed image is dry. The printer quality should be set to the highest settings; this should be the photo or best option in the printer preferences.
